Buying a semi-integrated camper: vehicle features at a glance

The main difference between SI and other types of construction is the construction of the driver’s cab. In addition, the chassis is usually built on the basis of a small van. Our cheap BELA mobile homes are all designed on Citroen basis. Thus, a semi-integrated mobile home can be defined by a standard driver’s cab, which is taken over as a chassis (seats, engine, transmission, etc.) and is supplemented by a prefabricated living space cabin.

In semi-integrated vehicles you will find semi-dinettes, which are also available with some alcove variants. This means that the seats in the cab are rotatable. Together with the table and bench, they form a complete seating group outside of the travel times. This increases the overall living space and offers more space and comfort for the occupants of the motorhome. Since BELA is a brand for low-cost mobile homes, we offer only alcove and semi-integrated mobile homes.

To your understanding: In (fully) integrated vehicles, the cab has to be newly built individually, which of course is associated with higher costs.

Different types of bed in SI-campers

In return for the alcove, you do not have the possibility to sleep at the SI in a bed in the attic. Therefore, it is advisable to think about the desired sleeping possibilities before you would like to buy a motorhome semi-integrated. If desired, we can integrate a suspended bed under the ceiling in the living room, which can be lowered electronically as required. Important to know: No matter what type of design you prefer, the height of a SI motorhome remains unchanged with or without a lifting bed.

If you prefer more space at night, we have model variants with two single beds for you on offer. However, these can also be converted to a large lying area, which can be used by up to 3 persons or 2 adults with a child. There are also vehicles with double bed for two. In addition, the semi-integrated motorhome owns an improved aerodynamic compared to the alcove and consume less fuel. They are priced in a similar range.

For whom is the semi-integrated vehicle suitable?

If your new motorhome is semi-integrated, you should be aware of the fact that not too many people can stay in the vehicle. So you can say that this kind of models suits best to couples, small families with one child or people who only take single other passengers on trips. TI mobile homes are the ideal travel companion when you are traveling together because they have no additional sleeping niche above the driver’s cab. The tiny niche here serves only to give the cabin more headroom. On the other hand, do not forget that the integration of a hub bed is always an additional option when you are traveling with several people.

Facts and figures – Semi-integrated motorhomes

Pleasant warmth thanks to heating and insulation

Like in standard cars a heating is located in the driver’s cab of the semi-integrated motorhome. On the one hand, this provides comfortable temperatures during the driving time but can also distribute its heat through the ventilation slots into the living room. On request, a Truma heater can cover rear with heat during lifetimes. Optionally you can only heat the living room or the entire interior including the driver’s cab.

Thermo pads are great to isolate your new motorhome. Irrespective of the season, they can be used in any weather, as they shield the heat in the summer and protect it from the cold in winter. With suction cups, the mats can be easily attached to the inside of the driver’s disc. Alternatively, models can also be selected which can be insulated using curtains. This is either stretched from the B-pillar over the driver’s pulley or partly from one B-pillar to the other. Thus, a semi-integrated mobile home with sufficient preparation can also be used very well for camping holidays in winter.
